Why hire a professional translator if machine translation is now possible

In spite of the advances and research in the field, the currently available versions of automatic translation programmes produce texts of unequal quality, sometimes more easily understandable than others. The outcome depends on the language combination, the degree of sophistication of the software used, or the text type, among other aspects.

In some cases, translation software is useful, although, in any event, the resulting text should be considered a draft, an unfinished product in need of professional editing and proofreading, especially if the text is intended for external use.
